Maine Field Guide to Invasive Aquatic Species
LSM’s Field Guide to Invasive Aquatic Species is resource for volunteers to identify the aquatic invasive species that threaten Maine’s waterways, as well as their native lookalikes.In addition to invasive and native plants, the field guide also features aquatic invasive animals, information on how to lead a survey, and how to report findings.
A supplemental booklet to the Field Guide was added in 2024, which includes four additional plants that were added to Maine’s invasive watchlist in 2023, as well as an updated key intended to be used with the rest of the book.
The Field Guide to Invasive Aquatic Species and Supplemental Booklet can be purchased for $45.00
The Supplemental Booklet itself can be purchased for $10.

The Quick Key to Ruling Out Maine’s Most Unwanted Aquatic Invasive Plants is a compact, useful resource which features simple steps to ruling out all 15 aquatic invasive plants on Maine’s watchlist.
The Quick Key can be purchased prefolded, waterproof paper for $3.50 per unit. Orders can be made by calling 207-783-7733 or emailing stewards@lakestewardsme.org.

15 Most Unwanted Poster
The 15 Most Unwanted Poster features scientifically accurate line drawings of the 15 aquatic invasive plants on Maine’s watchlist. The poster is best suited for 11”x17” paper.

Laminated ID Cards
LSM developed a deck of Laminated ID Cards which feature all 15 aquatic invasive plants on Maine’s watchlist, plus an assortment of native lookalikes. The decks are available as a set with a ring and carabiner.
