Location: Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring Street, Auburn: Androscoggin Community Room, Ground Floor

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together the knowledge, experience, and ideas trained Invasive Plant Patrollers who are playing critical leadership roles in their communities, and helping to build one of the nation’s most formidable volunteer early detection programs for aquatic invaders. Individuals wishing simply to learn more about Maine’s Invasive Plant Patrol and how to begin building an IPP team in their community are also welcome to attend.

Pre-registration is required. There is no registration fee. Light refreshments will be available to all, and lunch will be provided free of charge to certified LSM lake monitors. Non-certified attendees may purchase lunch at the door. A pantry is available for those who wish to bring their own food. Visual aids are welcome. IPP View Scope Clinic

2020 Date TBD – Center for Citizen Lake Science, 24 Maple Hill Road, Auburn

This engaging hands-on clinic is a must for anyone working to build and IPP team on their favorite waterbody. Leave the workshop with everything you need to construct a variety of view scopes and/or lead your own a scope clinic in your community.

Some familiarity with the use of hand tools is required. You are may bring your own tools or borrow ours. More information regarding tools, materials, and scope kit availability will be provided upon registration.

How to Lead an IPP Plant Paddle

This workshop is for trained Plant Patrollers, IPP Lake Team Leaders, and Regional IPP Leaders who wish to expand community involvement in local early detection efforts. “Plant Paddles” are short (1 – 2 hour) events that take place on shore and on the water. They provide a fun, informal way to introduce community members to the threat of IAP and the importance of early detection. These guided learning experiences are well suited to community events such as lake days, civic group meetings, school outings, lake association meetings, etc.

How to Lead an IPP Plant Paddle will provide you with everything you need to organize and lead your own community event. This is a classroom seminar-style workshop. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Please bring your own bag lunch. All other materials will be provided.

Lake Stewards of Maine (LSM) works to protect Maine lakes and to promote lake stewardship through widespread citizen participation in the gathering and dissemination of credible scientific information pertaining to lake health.
